Allas Sea Pool
Nestled right next to Helsinki’s Market Square, Allas Sea Pool is a must-visit destination. It is a good way to experience Helsinki sauna and swimming culture.
Allas Sea Pool offers relaxation and a breathtaking view while in the urban environment of Helsinki.

Uusi Sauna
Blending tradition with contemporary comfort, Uusi Sauna brings the beloved neighborhood sauna into the 21st century.
This is less touristy than Allas Sea Pool and Löyly!
Uusi Sauna offers wood pellet-heated saunas along with a spacious terrace for cooling off between sessions.
Its laid-back bistro and bar make it a great place to enjoy a toast, snacks, and a wide selection of drinks.

Kotiharju sauna
Kotiharju Sauna is among Helsinki’s oldest public saunas, welcoming visitors since 1928.
Located in the heart of Kallio, Kotiharju is one of the few remaining wood-heated public saunas. It also offers separate steam rooms for men and women.
The authentic atmosphere, crackling fire, and thick, gentle steam make for an unforgettable experience.

Sauna Hermanni
Since the 1950s, Hermannin Sauna has been a cherished spot for locals seeking a traditional steam bath.
It is the third-oldest public sauna in the Kallio area, following Kotiharju and Arla (currently closed).
Tucked away in the basement of an apartment building, this cozy retreat offers a relaxed, no-frills experience. Guests are welcome to bring their own drinks, while snacks are available on-site.
Lapinlahti Sauna
Nestled within the grounds of an old mental hospital, Lapinlahti Sauna carries a fascinating history.
Built in the 1880s, this small yet atmospheric sauna has served both patients and staff for over a century.
Today, it welcomes the public, offering a unique and peaceful escape by the sea. Guests can bring their own drinks, adding to the relaxed and informal atmosphere.
You can get tickets at the on-site café, making it easy to combine a sauna session with a warm drink or snack.
Sompasauna
If you’re looking for a true grassroots sauna experience, Sompasauna is the place to be. However, it is not for everyone.
If you are into modern design and fancy places, you may want to skip it.
This self-service, free public sauna, built and maintained by volunteers, offers a raw and authentic take on Finnish sauna culture.

Located by the sea in Kalasatama, it welcomes everyone—locals, travelers, and sauna lovers alike.
There are no entrance fees, no staff, and no strict rules—just the simple joy of wood-fired steam, stunning waterfront views, and a friendly community vibe. Bring your own towel, drinks, and firewood if you can, and embrace the spirit of this truly unique Helsinki sauna.
