Rum Sanctuary In The Heart Of Kallio

HogoHuone is a relaxed cocktail bar that fits Kallio’s laid-back and bohemian style.

Nothing is left to chance at HogoHuone.

The interior is inspired by the Shakers, an 18th-century utopian religious group from the U.S. who believed in pacifism, human equality, and dedication to elegance and simplicity in functional design.

Collaborations with local designers touched every part of the cocktail bar.

At HogoHuone you could easily meet the founder, Adrian Rigopulos, Helsinki Philharmonic bassist turned mixologist.

This cozy haven invites you to slow down, sip something special, and become part of a community where every glass tells a story.

History of HogoHuone

HogoHuone is a rum and cocktail bar that shows attention to detail, starting with its name.

The Story Behind The Name

Hogo is a French word that could be translated to high taste.
However, Hogo can also be a strong or remarkable smell. This is why it perfectly describes the pungent, funky flavors of rums produced with long fermentation times, such as those made in Jamaica or Réunion.

Mixologist, sailor, and professional contrabassist, Adrian’s polyhedric interests brought him to collaborate with local designers to create the place he wanted.

The Collaborations

  • The Shakers-inspired interior design is a craft of lead interior designer Sara Akhlaghmoayed
  • Mimi McPartlan designed the flower-shaped color-changing lamps and menus
  • If you are lucky you might see the tiki mugs! The same Mimi McPartlan who designed the lamps and the menu shaped the ceramic mugs at Kulmapala studio in Alppila.
  • The hanging wooden pieces are by Aalto University woodshop master Josh Krute.
